Happy new year!
I thought about doing a recap but I was too tired over the holidays, and now it feels weird. I do want to pause to thank everyone who read, commented, liked, and followed in 2023! It made this adventure easier and much more enjoyable.
I have a lot in mind for 2024, in terms of writing and other creative projects. My biggest objective in 2024 is a chapbook. that requires having enough solid work to consist of a book and then figuring out the logistics, which terrifies me. ha! I plan to do another haiku month at least once this year and am going to play around with other short forms on the blog. Speaking of the blog, I plan to do a revamp here with some new features and sections. I might even open up commissions! What the heck, 2024?
I’m also exploring other creative mediums, mostly stemming off embroidery. I want to start working with felt, learn thread painting, and play around with fabric painting to customize my embroidery backgrounds. I bought a cheap light tablet for transferring patterns; it came yesterday and it is super rad. A friend with extra sewing machines has invited a few of us over for a sewing day; I haven’t used a machine since high school and haven’t done proper sewing since then either. I am ridiculously excited and have a thousand ideas.
Personally, I have a number of huge goals and started the new year off by taking some steps toward achieving them. A few days ago, I contacted a photographer about a session I’ve wanted to do for twenty years, and yesterday i got an email back about it. Instant nerves!! I have one trip booked in February and have at least one other to book this year. I haven’t been excited about life in so long that I can’t remember; it’s a weird feeling and sometimes I get overwhelmed because it’s so unfamiliar.
Speaking of being overwhelmed, I’m going to wrap this up now because guess what!
