    new beginnings

    last year, the doves built their nest in the tree. this year, they selected something a bit more rustic, befitting their pigeon heritage. i discovered it today when i was checking on my plants, and then suddenly there was a dove in my face!

  • my aeonium, peepa halpert (iykyk), and her various progeny displaying sun stress. light exposure and temperature change are key stressors for succulents, which is what makes them so colorful. what’s cool about it is how varied it can be across a single plant, depending on the angle of the sun, length and strength of the exposure.

    this is peepa’s seasonal exit to dormancy; all of the heads will close up for the summer and reopen again in the fall. she turns FIVE this summer!
